The huge success of Kabir Singh has made its star, Shahid Kapoor, hungry for more material sourced from the southern film industry.
Shahid is reportedly keen to do the Hindi version of Gowtham Tinnanuri's Telugu hit, Jersey, which tells the story of a failed cricketer and his bonding with his young son.
The film, which stars Nani, was a huge success.
A source close to the development tells Subhash K Jha, “Shahid is keenly looking at doing the Telugu film, Jersey, in Hindi.
"The producers want to do the Hindi remake with the original Telugu director but this should not be a problem. Shahid knows Kabir Singh worked spectacularly because the original director was retained for the Hindi version."
Strangely, Telugu heroes never seem to want to work in the Hindi remakes of their big hits.
Ravi Teja was not considered for the Hindi remake of Kick; Salman Khan took over.
Vijay Deverakonda had no ambitions of reprising his role in Arjun Reddy, and Shahid stepped in.
Nani also seems happy in Telugu cinema, with no burning ambition to take on Bollywood.
