A look at the top tweets from your favourite Bollywood celebrities:

Chairman of the Observer Research Foundation Sudheendra Kulkarni was allegedly attacked by Shiv Sena activists for organising former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch in Mumbai. Celebrities took to Twitter to condemn the attack:

Mahesh Bhatt: The attack on Sudhendra Kulkarni ridicules our constitution, shames our police, & debunks our claims to be a democracy. This kind of violence generates fear & denies free speech & free thought their 'God-given' sanctity.

Shabana Azmi: Am deeply saddened by Shiv Senas attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni. wish 2talk 2 @uddhavthackeray n @AUThackeray but neither is talking my calls. In person @uddhavthackeray is a gentle person n @AUThackerays young friends tell me he is different. Pls lets sit across the table and TALK. Dialogue can and must be the only way for negotiation. Unwilling to believe that its no longer possible to address contentious issues.

Rishi Kapoor: Excuse me! This is ridiculous and unpardonable. And to address a media conference in this manner? Politics!!

Sona Mohapatra: Dear Shiv Sena, Throwing paint on Sudheerna Kulkarni doesn't make you patriotic. If you remotely care, help fight our biggest enemy- poverty.
