Another feather in Ms Balan-Roy Kapur's cap!
Vidya Balan received a Doctor of Arts Honoris Causa degree from Ahmedabad-based Rai University for her contribution to Hindi cinema.
The actress, currently gearing up for the release of her next film Hamari Adhuri Kahani opposite her Ghanchakkar costar Emraan Hashmi, attended the event with her family.
'It is truly humbling and overwhelming to receive this honour. What makes this even more special is that I complete 10 years in the film industry this year.
'There can be no bigger compliment for any actor than to have done work that has made a significant mark and also to be looked upon as a role model by young India. I hope to live up to the title,' Vidya was quoted as saying in a statement.
Vidya's new film is creating a lot of buzz as it is reportedly based on the love story of producer Mahesh Bhatt's parents.
The 37-year-old actress was joined by husband Siddharth Roy Kapur, who has recently moved from UTV to head Disney India.
Also in attendance to mark the happy occasion were Vidya's parents and in-laws -- mother Saraswathy Balan (far left), father PR Balan (in black) father-in-law (in light blue shirt) and mother-in-law Salome Roy Kapur.
Vidya's elder sister Priya Balan was also in attendance with her kids (in the picture).
