Legendary film writer Sachin Bhowmick passed away today. He had written stories and screenplays for over 70 films in his lifetime.
He started his writing career with Lajwanti in 1958, starring Nargis.
His famous works are Brahmachari, Aradhana, Pehchan and Aan Milo Sajnaa. Most recently, he wrote films like Koi... Mil Gaya, Kisna and Krrish.
He has worked mostly with filmmakers J Om Prakash, Nasir Hussain, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Pramod Chakravorty, Subhash Ghai and Rakesh Roshan.
He directed only one film in his lifetime -- called Raja Rani in 1973 -- starring Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore.
Subhash Ghai paid tribute to the man who wrote most of his films: "It's my great personal loss. He was most interested in films but never a filmi person. A legend in screenplay writing since 1960. He led me from Karz to Yuvraaj in over 10 films. Some of them were Karz, Karma, Khalnayak, Taal and Yuvraaj. A true gentleman all the way."
