'Salman Khan is one of the biggest movie stars of our country. When he endorses something, the impact is for everyone to see. If he has been made the Goodwill Ambassador, more power to the authorities who have chosen him, more power to him to accept it and no power to people who reject this choice.'

Salman Khan gets a lot of support from Kirron Kher, Karan Johar and Malaika Arora Khan.

Kirron Kher, Karan Johar and Malaika Arora have come out strongly in support of Salman Khan's appointment as the Goodwill Ambassador of the Indian contingent for the Rio Olympics in August.

The trio, who will be seen in the seventh season of the reality TV show India's Got Talent, made themselves very clear at a media interaction in Mumbai.

Kiron Kher, who has a lot of weight and is flaunting a slim figure, says, "The sportsmen of this country need to have a bigger heart. I have played badminton for this country, my sister has captained the Indian team and is an Arjuna award winner. She has won medals at the Commonwealth games for badminton. We know Milkha (Singh) uncle very well. When we choose someone like Salman Khan, it brings in a lot of corporate. There are several sports -- excluding cricket -- which need money for coaching and other things. The government can do only this much and if Salman helps, it's wonderful for the sportsmen involved.

"Someone said on a TV channel that film people live in an imaginary world and sports people live in reality," she adds. "I would like to tell them that we live very much in reality. The amount of hard work that people in this industry do, I doubt if many people in the country or even world can.

"So with deep respect, I would like to urge my peers, my juniors and my seniors in the sports field to give some respect to someone like Salman Khan. He has been there for a long time, and has lasted a long time. There must be something in the gentleman that inspires all of us," she continues.

Karan endorsed Kiron’s words as well: "Consistency, sincerity, hard work and dedication are the marks of great artists or those who have achieved anything at all in the universe. Salman is a humungous achiever and if his brand can be leveraged... as Kirronji rightly pointed out, his reach is tremendous. He is one of the biggest movie stars of our country. When he endorses something, the impact is for everyone to see. If he has been made the Goodwill Ambassador, more power to the authorities who have chosen him, more power to him to accept it and no power to people who reject this choice."

Maliaka has always supported her brother-in-law, even though her marriage is going through a rough patch.

"I agree with Kirronji and Karan," she says. "Salman has been chosen for a reason and you have to give him credit. More power to him and the authorities. Sports will always be close to my heart, and I want it have all the recognition possible. I think Salman will bring all that and much more."
