Mary Kom recently saw the biopic on her life where Priyanka Chopra plays her screen avatar, and the Olympian boxer was reduced to tears.
"It's like Priyanka has hijacked Mary's life. The way Priyanka walks, talks, fights and loves is exactly from Mary's life," says a source.
Big plans are being made for the premiere of the film in Mumbai on September 4, before it releases on Friday.
The real Mary Kom is expected to join Priyanka Chopra at the premiere.
If all goes well, and the Mary Kom team is able to pull it off in spite of the blanket-ban on Hindi films in Manipur, Priyanka will also attend a special screening of the biopic for Mary Kom’s family and friends in Manipur.
"The film’s co-producers Viacom 18 have already scored a global success with the Milkha Singh biopic, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. They are confident that Mary Kom will be as successful,” says the source.
Apparently, Priyanka had taken Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor Farhan Akhtar into confidence about her marketing plans for Mary Kom, and it was he who suggested that the real Mary Kom be kept in the loop in the same way that the real Milkha Singh fraternized with Farhan during Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
