The music of Mr X is not blockbuster material, and only few songs bear repeated listening, writes Joginder Tuteja.
Three years after they worked in Raaz 3, director-actor duo Vikram Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi join forces for Mr X.
The Mr X soundtrack has been composed by Ankit Tiwari, Ankur Tiwari and Jeet Gannguli. The lyrics are by a relatively new team of Rashmi Singh, Mohnish Raza, Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay and Manoj Shukla.
Ankit Tiwari's Tu Jo Hain, which he has also sung, is a lovelorn rendition that he's well-known for.
The romantic number, with a hint of sadness, is slow-paced and just what one expects from Emraan Hashmi. A good start.
Mili Nair goes western in her rendition of the title song Mr X. She does well in this 1970s style Bond number.
Mahesh Bhatt is heard intermittently singing a line: 'You call me X - Mr X', styled on 'My name is Bond - James Bond'. His voice doesn't suit Hashmi, so it seems like a gimmick.
Ankit Tiwari returns with the excellent Saad Shukrana, which has the romantic flavour one associates with Emraan Hashmi.
Up next, Tiwari and Neeti render Alif Se, an upbeat number. He brings energy to the song. A satisfactory outing that warrants repeated hearing.
Teri Khusboo has two versions, one by Arijit Singh and the other by Palak Muchhal.
It’s a rather sad song and moves at a really slow pace. It is the longest song in the album, at nearly six minutes, but fits in well with the mood of the album.
