The Athens Olympics will have a new star: Angelina Jolie.
Jolie has agreed to be one of the final torchbearers at Athens on August 12, mentions Hollywood Reporter. The 29-year-old star confirmed that she would run a few hundred metres in a letter to the Games organisers. The international relay crosses five continents and ends in Athens. This will happen a day before the Olympic cauldron will be lit.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics is August 13.
The actress is also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and said in her letter, 'I would consider it an honor to run with the Olympic torch as a gesture of hope for refugees and to express my active support for sport and world peace. The preferred time for me to run would be 1800 or 1900 hours."
Incidentally, Jolie is the first big celebrity torchbearer to accept an invitation to run in Greece.
