Ajay Jadeja is batting on a brand new pitch. And enjoying every minute it.

But the former Indian cricketer, who makes his debut on the big screen with the Suniel Shetty production Khel, which releases on October 2, made it clear that cricket would always remain his 'priority number one'.

Suniel Shetty and Ajay Jadeja at the 'Khel' function in New Delhi"I would say dancing with a heroine is definitely easier than facing Shoaib Akhtar at his meanest. But films happened because there was no cricket at the time," Jadeja told reporters in Delhi at the pre-release function of Khel.

"I have not signed any films at the moment because I will not be able to allot any dates until the cricket season ends," he said. He also said playing for the country was the biggest honour anyone could hope for and could not be compared with acting in a film.

Actor-producer Suniel Shetty was all praise for Jadeja and former Miss India Celina Jaitley, who also makes her debut in Khel, calling them the 'surprise package of the film'.

"Ajay is as good an actor as he is cricketer. He is a naturally talented performer. Although the film stars Sunny Deol and me, I am confident both of them will play a big part in its success," he said.

The movie is the story of Dev Mallaya (Shetty) and Rohan Poddar (Jadeja) and how their lives unravel when Rohan is arrested for murder. The case becomes the responsibility of ACP Rajveer Pratap Scindia (Sunny Deol).

Asked if he was nervous about the film's imminent release, Jadeja said, "In cricket, there are no retakes, no waiting for Friday, no actor and director. So there is no tension. But, in a film, there are so many expectations you have to live up to that a little tension is normal."

Jadeja considered 'dancing with the heroine' a huge attraction. But, he added, he was a novice compared to big stars like Deol and Shetty.
