Mumbai police have registered a case of rioting against five persons who allegedly manhandled veteran Bollywood actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar for pointing out waste of water in a Holi event in his neighbourhood.
Police said the incident took place in the evening when a TV news channel approached the actor to speak about the current water crisis in Maharashtra.
Amrapurkar, who lives in Versova, a western suburb of Mumbai, told the channel that `a rain-dance'
was going on at Panchavati building in his neighbourhood and asked them to shoot it as an instance of waste of water and people's insensitivity.
When the channel's camera-person went to shoot it, some of the revellers took objection. As Amrapurkar tried to intervene, he was also pushed, police said.
Police have recorded the statements of Amrapurkar and the camera-person and filed a case against the five persons.
