As Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge completes 500 weeks on May 13, rediff.com invited readers to send in their reviews of the movie.

And the response was great! Here are some of the reader reviews:

Jitesh Tilwani: DDLJ is one of the all time best movie ever produced or directed, movie was a big blockbuster not b'coz SRK or Kajol was their or any other actor acted well or cinematography was emphatic but movie became evergreen viewers choice b'coz SRK & Kajol acted from their heart not to mint money, rather every1 in the movie give their full hearted contribution they played & lived role in the movie rather than acting, I feel thats the key reason for DDLJ 2b such a big hit.

Govind Haridas: When me and my wife (then my girlfriend) watched this historic movie, we knew in our hearts that our then 2 year old love will also culminate in a happy ending like DDLJ. We were from 2 different backgrounds and we expected a lot of trouble. But we finally got married in 2000 without much ado and now we are having a happy life with one little angel of a son. Even a few days back, we discussed about how we felt after watching DDLJ and how we knew deep down that we would make it.  Its 10 years now….how fast time flies…it feels like we watched it yesterday J

Rashmi Ramachandra: DDLJ needs no introduction or expansion. Its the same age old classic love story ,where girl meet boy and they fall in love .But what differentiates the movie is its earthy feel. The well fit characters. The chemistry between kajol and SRK. What everybody talks about is heavenly pairing of SRK and kajol. But for me it is the way the relationship between the characters of SRK and Amrish Puri grows. Every time srk tries to talk to Amrish Puri you feel a new thrill. The overpowering image of Amrish Puri just stands there and demands respect from you. It might not logically be a correct film. But it touches ur heart. That look of srk in the imagination of kajol saying bye to her when she reaches home after the trip. I don't  think anybody can put into words the feeling DDLJ evokes in us. This not my review of the movie. Its just some bits of emotion that the DDLJ brings out of me much more that cannot be put into words. While typing this I have already gone back years together. When I had pestered my reluctant mom to see this movie. Srk was not quite known person as he is now at that time. When I came out I had changed loyalties from one khan to another khan. This my second favorite movie after Dharmendra's Chupke chupke.

Nikhlesh Agrawal: One of the best movies I have seen in my life. What is unique about this movie is that it seems so fresh even after almost 10 years and everytime you watch the movie, you end up wid emotions..

SRK has done a role of his lifetime. Kajol looks amazing. The way in which all the scenes have been shot, all emotions which have been captured is amazing.. All the songs are worth a lifetime.."Ho gaya hai tujhko to pyar sajna" is a wonderful song. shot so well and sung so well..

Well, watever i say is less about the movie.. dont think i wud ever see a movie of this class in my lifetime...

Sweta Gupta: DDLJ is a movie different or I should say the trendsetter for this kind of movies… Its story is good, well directed, melodious songs, good starcast, touching actingJ and an overall lovely movie!

An alltime Hit and an evergreen movie! You can see it N times and will never get boredJ! The humor is fresh!

Vamshi: DDLJ is a classic romantic love story, those were my early college days when this movie was released, the line "Come fall in love..." has pulled to the theatre and no wonder I have seen the movie for 49 times so far in theatre. I am due to go to this movie again on May 13th. Hats off to all behind this super success. We want more movies like this, techinicians....can you hear me!!!

Sameer Olyai: Well all I can say is that I have seen DDLJ 148 times... When I met SRK in Delhi ( that time i had seen it around 130 times ) the first thing I told him was the number of times I had seen DDLJ :) He had a surprised look on his face too... But well I still don't seem to get enough of this movie.... I still watch it with the same enthusiasm as always and still laugh at every funny moment.... A big thanx to the whole team of DDLJ for making an all time classic...

Kushal Lakshmaiah: The movie was very refreshing and would always be as refreshing as it was, when it got released.

It depicts the very epitome of LOVE.....the real truth of life but unfortunately not recognised by many people.

Naveen: "Bade Bade Deshome choti choti Galtiya Hote hai……………." a class dialogue of the movie…………A movie that was entirely different from its much more successful predecessor  HAHK . A fast moving comedy and romance sets this movie  worth watching any number of times. Ofcourse, it defies logic and practically not a reality based movies….but this gets to ones head only after seeing it number of times. All the while Shah Rukh played a looser , be it in Darr, Baazigarh, Anjaam , Raam Jaane and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa but here he was winner from the word go and the conviction he displays in wooing his heroine and her father has captivated the nations heart. It was really cool movie with cool Characters. The songs, beautiful locales, timing and a superstar really changed the tides in DDLJ favour. But … running for 500 weeks is really rocking.

Radhika Radhakrishnan: DDLJ is a masterpiece, a break through in Hindi Cinemas. I can state that it has till to date held to its charm and has impressed all generations .Not only the Indian Society has applauded the movie but also people around the world have been mesmerised by the quality of Indian Cinema and the emotions attached to it .No other movie has attracted me as a teenager and I am sure this goes for all.Foriegn Locations, Costumes, Appearances, Emotions (for once not exaggerated and not too much of melodrama),Music..Everything is Top. Total Respect for everyone who got involved with the Making of DDLJ.

Aditya: This is a too good movie. I have seen it about 5 times and really could not find any dull moment in the entire movie. This is a too good movie to miss. I would rate it amongst the best in the entire history of bollywood after Sholay. I really loved Kajol's and SRK's portrail of the youth and also Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher and Farida Jalal did a commendable job. The music was absolute top class and choreography excellant. A must watch for all. My rating to the movie would be 4.85 out of 5, as 4.95 is for Sholay.
