Kannada actor Darshan, arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening his wife Vijayalakshmi, filed bail application before a Sessions Court in Bangalore today.
First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkatesh Hulagi had yesterday rejected his bail plea stating that he did not have jurisdiction to handle the case filed under IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder).
Darshan's attempts to secure bail suffered a setback despite his wife retracting
This ran contrary to her allegations in a police complaint on September 8 that he had assaulted and threatened her with a revolver.
Darshan was arrested on September 9 and produced before a Magistrate who had remanded him to judicial custody. Several leading Kannada film personalities have tried to bring about a patch-up between Darshan and his wife.
Police had on Monday requested the court to drop IPC Section 307 (attempt to murder) filed against Darshan who is
now undergoing treatment for asthma and jaundice in a hospital.
