Which Malayalam film will you watch this week?
Big Malayalam movies have been lined up for release on Eid.
Since Mohanlal’s Puli Murugan has been delayed further, all the attention is on Mammootty’s Kasaba, along with the Asif Ali and Biju Menon starrer Anuraga Karikkinvellam. Both films will release on July 7.
Meanwhile, Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum and Karinkunnam 6’s will release a day before, on July 6.
A look at the Eid releases.
Kasaba
Debutant director Nithin Renji Panicker’s Kasaba has been constantly trolled on the social media -- from its hero Mammootty’s mannerisms to his dressing style, the film doesn't seem to be very popular.
Mammootty plays Circle Inspector Rajan Zachariah. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is the female lead.
Produced by Goodwill Entertainments, Sameer Haq is the cinematographer and the film's music has been composed by Rahul Raj.
Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum
Director Boban Samuel, of Janapriyan and Romans fame, is back with Shajahanum Pareekkuttiyum, starring Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Amala Paul.
Ashiq Usman is the producer and Y V Rajesh is the scenarist.
Music has been scored by Gopi Sundar.
Karinkunnam 6’s
Director Deepu Karunakaran teams up with Vettah scenarist Arunlal Ramachandran in Karinkunnam 6’s.
Manju Warrier plays a volleyball coach, training jail inmates.
The sports drama, which has been shot extensively inside a jail, also stars Anoop Menon, Babu Antony and Suraj Venjarammoodu.
Produced under the banner of Backwater Studios, Karinkunnam 6’s has camera by Jayakrishna Gummadi and music by Rahul Raj.
Anuraga Karikkinvellam
Biju Menon plays a cop and Asif Ali is his son in debutant director Khalid Rahman’s Anuraga Karikkinvellam.
Prithviraj’s August Cinema has produced the movie.
Jimshi Khalid is the cinematographer and Prashanth Pillai is the music director.
