White Feather Films' Kaante, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt (who debuts as producer with the film), Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Lucky Ali and Kumar Gaurav, is finally scheduled for release on Friday, December 20.
Finally, because the film has been dogged by controversy since August, when it was first due for release. Differences between international producer Raju Patel and the crew reportedly delayed the Rs 300 million film.
Kaante is said to be a remake of Quentin Tarantino's cult flick Reservoir Dogs. It is about a bank robbery gone awry.
Kaante is important for Bollywood in two ways. It is the first Indian film to be shot extensively in Los Angeles, with an all-Hollywood crew. Starved of a good solid hit this year, apart from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, Bollywood now looks to Kaante to lift it from the doldrums it is now in.
