How did you come up the title of the film?
It fitted well. The footballer's pet name is made into the title of the film and since the protagonist here is a child, it is titled Little Zizou. Earlier, it was titled The Russians are Coming and then Catch a Falling Star.
Why did you choose comedy as your directorial debut?
It is easier to make people cry than to make them laugh. And it is very rewarding when someone laughs because of you. I don't want to cry or make people cry.
What role does John Abraham play in the film?
He plays a very important role. I cannot say anything more about it.
I met him during the shooting of No Smoking and loved his work. When I proposed the script to him, he said he only needed dhansak [a Parsi speciality] in return. I was ready to cook that for him for the rest of my life! He is a very down-to-earth person and it was pleasure working with him.
