In an earlier instance of supernatural doing its bit to terrify, Madhumati with its existent reincarnation theme also added an element of otherworldly when the ghost of Vyjayanthimala appears in the last few reels creating both a moment of shock and surprise.

For most part, rebirth provided the fodder for creating ghost-like intrigue in films like Kudrat and Mehbooba but met with limited success.
