'Slumdog Millionaire showed I could cross boundaries'

Kapoor was interviewed just before and after the Oscars in over two dozen magazines, newspapers and television channels. He has appeared on several major television shows. Images from the red carpet, showing him with fellow artists, have been featured in major programmes and newspapers like The New York Times.

"I come from a household where integrity and humanity are as important, perhaps more important than awards," he muses. "I come from a simple background and my dreams as an actor and then as a producer had boundaries and limitations. But Slumdog Millionaire showed that I could cross those boundaries in a very honourable way. As the film was getting one Oscar after another, I thought of hundreds of aspiring filmmakers and artistes in India, including my own children, and said to myself, these honours are for you all."
