The songs in Junglee have projected you in a different mould altogether. Was it a conscious decision on your part to go for an image change?
(Laughs) Oh no. Don't go that far. This is only my second film. I was introduced to the Kannada film industry through Meravanige. Mahesh Babu (the film's director) wanted me to be tomboyish and prankish in that film. So I did just that and I was much appreciated too.
But Junglee is a different type of film. You have only seen the songs. The fact is, in almost all the sequences, I look like a simple girl-next-door clad in simple attire.
It was only in the songs that director Soori sir wanted to present me differently. The songs were the only entertainment quotient in the film. I said 'yes' and the concept worked out well during the picturisation. I am very happy that the songs have now become huge hits.
You are now being perceived as the new sex symbol...
I don't feel unhappy to be called a sex symbol after Junglee, though it was not my conscious decision to get this tag. But these are the risks that many artists have to take. Anyway, I am keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the verdict.
