Ghai launched Mahima in his film, Pardes, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film is one of the few hits to her credit. But soon, the two had differences due to a violation in the three-film contract.

Apparently, Ghai did not allow Mahima to work on other projects until her contract with Mukta Arts expired, and that did not go down well with the actress.

They have never worked together again.
