At the same time as James Cameron's blockbuster, he was offered the leading role in Paul Thomas Anderson's fantastic Boogie Nights, a role that eventually went to Mark Wahlberg.
Wahlberg's performance and the film got rave reviews, while Titanic -- despite it's record-equalling 11 Oscars -- didn't get Leo an Oscar nod.
