7. Naseeruddin Shah and Saeed Jaffrey in Masoom
It's a typical Delhi party, and when Naseer's wife Shabana seems annoyed, our hero loosens his tie and comes after her with a superbly constructed, seemingly ad-lib ghazal. His best bud Jaffrey joins in readily as both men sing of ladies, vanity and beauty obstructed by coldness.
The magic may be inscribed to lyricist Gulzar and composer RD Burman, used magnificently by debutant director Shekhar Kapoor, who created that warm drawing-room party vibe we all know so well. But it took these two drunk pals to give this song the warmth it craved.
