Daddy the pancake chef

When Michael Douglas and Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones met for the first time at Deauville Film Festival in 2000, he propositioned her with the line, 'I'd like to father your children'.

They subsequently had two children -- Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta -- and Douglas does quite a bit of fathering like cooking pancakes and being a stay home dad for three years.

Zeta-Jones told the Inquirer a while back: 'Dylan was doing Occupations Day at school. When he got home, he asked Michael and me about our careers, so we said, 'Mommy and daddy make movies.' But this was the time when I went back to work and Michael took time off to be a stay-at-home dad. Dylan said, 'Wait a minute: Mama makes movies. Daddy, you just make pancakes!' Michael was like, 'After 40 years in the business and two Oscars, it comes down to my son thinking that all I do is make pancakes! Michael makes breakfast every Sunday -- that's his thing. To help him, Dylan and Carys break the eggs and beat them, while mama sits down and watches it all happen -- with my cup of tea'.

Douglas told New York Time Out last year: 'I'm having a ball with my seven-year-old son (Dylan) and four-year-old daughter (Carys). That's why I haven't made many pictures in the last few years'.

Dylan has a son Cameron from his previous marriage with Diandra Luker.
