How is it reprising the roles in Tamil (Kuselan) and Telugu (Kathanayakudu)? Wasn't there a sense of deja vu for you?

It was a beautiful character and I didn't mind doing it again because it is one of its kind. Nobody gets to play this kind of a character again and again. Another thing which makes me happy is that nobody could replace me (laughs).

I am not paired opposite Rajni Sir in Kuselan. But before this I was paired with him in three Tamil films. All three were super-duper hits. I also acted as a child in Anbulla Rajnikanth. We were supposed to be one of the luckiest pairs.

I think times have changed and even in Tamil and Telugu they started giving importance to the character and story, and it's not just the hero-heroine stuff.

So it was not going down the same path again because the language was different...

Yes, and even the performance was a little different. Not like Malayalam.

Was it adapted differently in Tamil and Telugu as compared to Malayalam?

Yes, slightly. Malayalam films are different from other south Indian language films. They are realistic and subtle.

In Tamil and Telugu, one can add a little bit of masala (laughs). There was a difference doing all the three languages.
