On July 16, 1911, actress and dancer Ginger Rogers was born in Missouri, USA. By age five, she appeared in commercials. By 15, she was touring the vaudeville circuit with her mother acting as a chaperone.
To cut a long story short, Rogers was finally cast in a movie with the legendary Fred Astaire in 1933's Flying Down to Rio. It was a match of dancers made in heaven, and led to the two making ten movies together. In a span of 60 years, Rogers made more than 70 movies. She married five times, had no children, and continued to perform into the 1960s.
She died in 1995, at 83. Hollywood has yet to find another pair like Rogers and Astaire. Dancers the world over still heap praise over the glorious twosome.
