Pandurangadu
Director: K Raghavendra Rao
Cast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Tabu, Sneha
This devotional movie was made in the commercial format by the triumvirate of K Raghavendra Rao (director), J K Bharavi (writer) and M M Keeravi (music director).
The trio re-made an old classic Panduranga Mahatyam (which starred thespian NTR) as Pandurangadu where they got NTR’s son, Nandamuri Balakrishna to act as the lord and the devotee.
The movie, produced by Raghavendra Rao's home production, had the director's stamp on it particularly in the choreography of the songs.
This was the only period film this year so far, and that too in the mainstream format. And while the movie may not have broken records, it hasn't exactly made the producers poorer either.
