Nagesh Kukunoor's Perumazhakkalam remake needed strong actresses, and the lion's share of the film's demands went to Ayesha. The actress played Meera, a Rajasthani widow caught between redemption and unreasonable revenge, between compassion and cool anger.

It is a powerhouse performance as Ayesha expresses grief with the blink of an eye, heartbreak with a smile and hope with an unlikely, poignant jig. Super stuff.
