Dutt and Gupta were thick friends, and set up a production company together called White Feather Films. But in a surprise move, Dutt walked out of the company and formed his own, Sanjay Dutt Productions.

It is rumoured that Dutt was not too happy with Gupta's business dealings. That was when his girlfriend Manyata came into the picture and, apparently, helped Dutt ease Gupta out.
