1964
The 37th Oscars -- outside of this year -- were the only time all four Acting awards went to non-Americans: Rex Harrison, Julie Andrews, Peter Ustinov and Lila Kedrova.
As reflected by winners Andrews and Harrison, '64 was an overwhelming celebration of musicals, with an insanely eclectic Best Picture competition won by George Cukor's evergreen My Fair Lady against Disney's Mary Poppins, Peter Glenville's acting masterclass Becket, Michael Cacoyannis' Zorba The Greek and -- hold your breath -- Stanley Kubrick's cold-war masterpiece, Dr Strangelove Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb.
A seriously odd, amazing lot.
