Rishi Kapoor opposite Jaya Pradha in Sargam (1979)
Jaya Pradha started her career doing Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films. Her most prominent film was the Telugu hit, K Vishwanath's Sirri Sirri Muvva.
Vishwanath remade the film in Hindi, with Rishi Kapoor in the leading role. The film, Sargam, became an instant hit. The only snag was that the actress could not speak Hindi fluently (she played a mute girl in Sargam).
After Sargam, Jaya Pradha returned to South movies. She resurfaced after three years when Vishwanath re-launched her with Kaamchor. This time, she had come fully prepared and could speak Hindi fluently.
Rishi Kapoor, incidentally, launched as many as 16 heroines in his long career.
