Vidya Balan's filmi career was almost a non-starter. Her Malayalam debut opposite superstar Mohanlal and a Tamil one, Run were shelved.

Her third attempt, a Bengali film, Bhalo Theko got made but didn't bring on the success. It wasn't until Parineeta opposite Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt, that Vidya got her break.

The film propelled her to fame, and she went on to star in hits like Lage Raho Munnabhai and Bhool Bhulaiya. Her upcoming film, Kismet Konnection, will see her opposite Shahid Kapur.
