Kajol, how would you rate your husband as a director on a scale of 10?
Kajol: I would give him nine and half.
Ajay: She is my wife, that's why she's saying this.
Kajol: I am not only your wife but also an artist. The running has been very smooth and he did not shout at me even once on the sets. What I liked about him most was that there was no iota of doubt in him, as a director.
All the scenes that were read and explained to us were transformed on screen. He was very clear about what he wanted.
Ajay: The only issue is that what is written on paper has to be tranferred on screen.
We often talk about this term called 'generation loss' and this happens in every film. I'm satisfied that what was on paper has more or less transformed on screen, which is somewhat of an achievement for me. Now after the film hits the theatres, it's for the audience to decide if the stuff, which was originally on paper, was good or bad.
Both of you have worked together several times in romantic films. How will U Me Aur Hum be different from others?
Ajay: It's completely different. But then everyone tends to say this. So I think I should rather say that the film is not different.
It's a commercial and entertaining film. We have not tried to prove anything or say that it's wonderful and amazing. The film has been made straight from our hearts. It has comedy and drama, like a regular Hindi film. Through this film I have tried to break the negativity, which has entered our lives. This message has been conveyed between the lines. If people decipher it, that's good. If not then, they can just enjoy the film.
