Was it exciting to get the starring role in this film?
It has been so exciting and it has not really sunk in yet. I have done a lot of musical theater growing up and as an adult, so that helped me a lot because there is singing and dancing in the film so that is wonderful. I burst into song often in the film because that is what Disney princesses do. It is such fun having a musical element. I also loved seeing the hand drawn animation in the classic style. My character is animated early in the film and it is quite an honor to be drawn and created as Giselle by these talented artists.
In real life you do look like a Disney princess with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes, do you think this is a natural role for you to play?
Well I do have to give credit to the makeup people for making me look like a princess. It is not all me.
What is it like working opposite Patrick Dempsey?
It has been so much fun, we have a similar sense of humour so we have a lot of fun working together. Of course he has become really famous with the show, Grey's Anatomy, but on the set here you forget that he is such a sensation around the world. Then when we are in a public place together and suddenly surrounded by people, he is mobbed, it is extraordinary. But we are having a great time.
