It is very difficult because they are so big and heavy though they look lovely. The costumes definitely present a lot of limitations. My main dress weighs a lot, it is cumbersome and you can't get through the doorways, I can't imagine how girls ever really wore dresses like this all the time.

You do a lot of ballroom dancing in the film, did that come easily to you?

I thought it would be easy because I did so much ballet growing up. So I went into it with a lot of confidence, but ballroom is really different from ballet and dancing with a partner is different from dancing by yourself. So learning to dance with Patrick Dempsey (co-star) was hard work. I had to learn how to follow and that is not my nature. It was tough and I lost some toenails. It hurt. Well actually I am being dramatic but I do have a lot of blisters on my feet and toes. It is painful.
