'The role I most relate to is Julie'

Is Mithya going to help you change the way people look at you?

People always ask me what has been your biggest compliment. I have found an answer to that. We showed Mithya at the Osian Film Festival, and after the film there was a this Q&A. session. A woman from the film fraternity addresses me and says, 'I've seen a lot of your films and today I can turn around and say you've finally become an actor.' That was a huge compliment. I'd like people to listen and not just look at me.

Do you think you're getting roles that are at par with your potential as an actress?

No. I think I deserve much better. Working with Rajat I've come to realise my potential. What shocks me the most is every time I've given a good performance like in Chup Chup Ke, people are surprised. I don't get why it's taking so long for me to convince people that I'm better than most. But it's okay. It's a battle I'm fighting.

Which performances are you most proud of?

The role I relate to most is Julie. I had put my heart and soul into it.

What next?

I'm in Anees Bazmee's Singh is Kinng, along with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. This will be out on August 15. I'm also doing another film with Rajat and Ranvir titled I am 24 and Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, again with Rajat.
