By the time the 1980s rolled around, Christie began turning down films and stepping back from the spotlight. Sidney Lumet's Power, where Julie had a major supporting role, was her only prominent role of the era.
In the 1990s, Christie staged a comeback of sorts as Gertrude in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, after which she did Alan Rudolph's Afterglow -- which earned her a third Oscar nomination.
Then came small roles in a few big movies: Christie played Madame Rosmerta in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, Thetis in Troy and Kate Winslet's mother in Finding Neverland.
