Meena Kumari plays both mother courtesan and daughter courtesan in this splendid Kamal Amrohi drama, also featuring Raaj Kumar and Ashok Kumar. The film is made immortal by the songs by Ghulam Mohammed and Naushad, but Kumari's evocative performance it what gathered the movie its audience and applause.
