Mational award winning director, K P Kumaran is one of the best known names in the serious cinema movement in Malayalam.
He has directed films like Athithi (1974), Rugmini (1988) and Thotram. Rugmini, based on a Kamala Das' novel about the life of a child prostitute, won several awards all over. He had co-authored Adoor Gopalakrishnan's first feature film Swayamvaram too.
Kumaran thinks that the story is highly relevant today, as it was during the times when it was originally written. He links it to 'power', which is tough to attain, but even more tough to retain.
According to him, "Aakashagopuram paints an intriguing portrait of one man's consuming desire for success."
