'Saroj Khan has the link from the exciting past to the future'
How would you compare the mystical experience you had at the temple and the making of the film?
I will unabashedly say that making of the film was an extension of that experience because the cast and the crew I worked with did not dilute that experience at all.
From Lalgudi Jayaraman, I went to Madhu Ambat because I felt the Ravi Varma kind of visuals and only he could give me those. Then, I went to Saroj Khan because she had choreographed for three generations of women and she is exposed to Kathak, the dance of the Devadasis. I knew she was the one who could do it. I felt she was the only choreographer other than Raju Sundaram who has the link from the exciting past to the future.
