'I became a full-fledged heroine in Cheluvina Chiththaara'

How was it working under the direction of a big director like S Narayan?

S Narayan sir is like a good teacher. He used to tell me how to say the dialogues, how to stand, move my hands in a particular scene and so on. He was very particular about the minutest details of the film, and would tell me that the film's success depended on the way I performed.

I was just like an obedient student following the teacher's instructions. I knew that he was a big director, but he was very nice to me throughout the film.

You have worked in many films as a child artist...

Yes, I started acting from the age of seven. My first film, Parva was with Vishnu sir. Then I worked in films like Ekaangi with Ravi sir, Laali Haadu with Darshan sir, Kallarali Hoovaagi with Vijaya Raghavendra sir and Chandu with Sudeep sir. All of them were very sweet with me.

And then I was selected for Sai Sagar's film Thimma where I played the role of a thirteen-year old in love with a sixteen-year old boy. The whole story revolved around the love angle between the hero and me. Though I died in the second reel itself, the role had a big impact.

I became a full-fledged heroine in Cheluvina Chiththaara.
