Could you talk about Mahesh Babu and the experience of acting with him?
He comes across as a very down-to-earth person. Off screen, he's very sweet, shy and a thorough gentleman. But when he's acting, he transforms into another persona and suddenly you see the difference between the real Mahesh and the character. I have learnt so much from Mahesh -- it's unbelievable.
Most of the times Mahesh does it in one take. The kind of dedication he shows towards his character is absolutely amazing. It's not that he's taught me acting. It's just his attitude towards his work that inspires me.
I think he's one of the finest actors I have worked with. It's incredible that at such a young age he's achieved such maturity when it comes to his performance.
How did you cope with the language? Even though your roots are in the South (though you are settled in Mumbai) Telugu is very different from Konkani which is your mother tongue...
Yes, Telugu is very different. I couldn't follow anything. I had good assistant directors who were good in writing the dialogues in Hindi and prompting me whenever necessary. They helped me cope. I think I gradually became more comfortable with the language after saying the dialogues and understanding their meaning.
