Babu Thiruvalla who has produced some highly acclaimed films like Oru Minnuminunginte Nurunguvettom, Amaram, Savidham and Kannaki among others, makes his debut as a director with Thaniye.

The film narrates the poignant tale of old parents who are desperately trying to cope up with loneliness after their children leave them in the care of a home nurse.

The story also take a look at the lives of home nurses, some of whom are really dedicated to the profession though not everyone shares the same sentiments. The film also focuses on the effects of a new globalised world, taking the examples of tourism for instance.
