Taking a break from playing the lead, Cruise nevertheless rocked in a rare supporting role in this indie drama starring a host of actors including Julianne Moore.

Cruise played Frank T J Mackey, a macho sex guru who bitterly confronts his dying dad (Jason Robards). The film was nominated for three Academy awards, one of which was Best Supporting Actor for Cruise. He won the same at the Golden Globes of 2000.
