50 Cent's real name is Curtis James Jackson III. He was born in the Southside Jamaica area of the Queens borough of New York City. South Jamaica is notorious for its economic depression, high drug usage and incidence of violent crime.

Family life

His father abandoned his mother, Sabrina Jackson, before he was born. She was 15 when she gave birth to him, on July 6, 1975. A cocaine dealer herself, Sabrina was murdered at the age of 23, leaving 50 without parents as an eight year old. He moved in with his grandmother, where he lived in a tiny house with an assortment of uncles, cousins, distant relatives and friends.
