Pluses: The major plus of the film is the title itself. Polladhavan was one of the successful films of Rajnikanth, Dhanush's father in law. Of late, Dhanush has been taking the help of his father in law’s old successful films as his own have not been doing that well.
The director Vetrimaran was one of the assistants of Balu Mahendra. With the success of Katrathu Thamizh directed by Ram, another erstwhile assistant of Balu Mahendra, there is a general feeling that Vetrimaran also will deliver a good product.
G V Prakash's album is a success especially the remix song of SPB, Engeyum Eppovum, a rage among the young crowd!
Minuses: Dhanush has not had big success in recent times. The heroine Divya is quite unknown though she has acted in a successful film earlier and is the top heroine in Kannada.
