Himesh Reshammiya's film Aap Ka Surroor: The Moviee is in the news for a different reason as Mumbai's Anti Terrorism Squad reportedly tries to locate its producer Vijay Taneja.
Joint Commissioner of Police K P Raghuvanshi, the ATS chief, told Mumbai newspaper Mid-Day on Monday, 'We were trying to ascertain some facts from Taneja.'
Reshammiya has praised Taneja's work on the production; Taneja stages Bollywood events in the United States.
Speaking to this correspondent from New York, Taneja said he had no idea about this issue. "I was in Mumbai last week but nobody approached me from the police or Anti-Terrorism Squad," he said.
Aap Ka Surroor: The Moviee, made at a reported budget of Rs 35 crores (Rs 350 million), has been shot overseas.
When this correspondent contacted Reshammiya's publicist, he was told that the singer-actor was not available for comment. Reshammiya, the publicist added, had changed his cell phone number two days ago.
Prashant Chaddha, the film's director, told this correspondent he had "no idea about this news."
"I have not heard or read such news," he said.
Asked why Reshammiya had changed his phone number, Chaddha said, "He changed the number after the news on a television channel that he was on a gangster's hit-list."
Chaddha confirmed that Aap Ka Surroor: The Moviee will release as scheduled on June 29. It will be two hours long and have six songs sung by Himesh Reshammiya.
The singer believes he can make it big as an actor too.
"I think I have it in me," he told rediff.com in an earlier interview.
"When I started singing, people said I couldn't sing because I was a music director. I proved them wrong. Now I will prove to them that I can act too."
