Farhan Akhtar's Dil Chahta Hai plays on this prejudice and rejection, present in society, through his film's various protagonists.
Even though their relationship is never consummated, it's obviously very special. Many viewers felt Akhtar took a safe route by bumping off Dimple's character.
Speaking of which, the Bobby girl isn't new to these pastures. She reprised the older woman seeing a younger guy scenario in an Indie flick called Leela as well. And this time, she goes all the way.
If in DCH, she seems reluctant about her friendship with Akshaye, Leela emphasises her need to break against social norms and conduct, as a professor and unhappily married wife, with an intense expression of her previously dormant sexuality towards her 18-year old student.
