Ninaithale, starring Suchindra (veteran actress Vijayanthimala's son) and Nargis is a film based on the tried and tested formula of love conquering all difficulties.
Produced and directed by Viswas Sundar, better known as producer of films Adhu and Chanakya, the film meanders with a weak storyline, except for the final stages.
The film begins with a car accident caused by a drunken driver in which Rupa's (Nargis) happy family is killed. How she grows up has been conveniently left out of the film, though we see that her neighbours and friends are her only family now.
Rupa falls in love with her colleague and they decide to get married. However, wedding plans are shelved when the dominating nature of Rahul's mother comes to the fore and Rahul fails to stand by Rupa.
Enter Suchindra (Anand), a US-based boy looking for a bride. How Anand manages to hear all that which transpires between Rupa and Rahul's mother lacks credibility. Impressed with Rupa's strong character, he goes about winning her love.
Suchindra's debut as a hero in a Tamil film is impressive in parts. His smiling eyes and vulnerable expression is noteworthy though he needs to work on his dialogue delivery. Nargis on the other hand overacts in places and the gestures seem clichéd. The support actors do their bit.
Thought the film suffers from a weak story line, the setting and the characters are contemporary.
Cinematography by Thavasi Raj and Madhi is credible, though the film leaves little scope for art photography.
Dialogues by Bharathan are clichéd but music by Vijay Antony is impressive.
