Konkona Sensharma sure ia a busy actress. She has got two upcoming Yashraj movies in her kitty and the movie Life In A Metro all set for release on May 11.

Beaming with the many speculations about her character in the movie, the sensational actress talks to Girish Rao about her kind of roles, and playing a 30-plus virgin. Excerpts:

Rumour has it that your character in Metro based on Bridget Jones...

(Pauses) Is it? Well... I suppose you can draw parallels. She is goofy and simple. And yes, she is a 30-plus virgin trying hard to find her mate. So in that case, she is a little like Bridget Jones.

But you don't look 30-plus at all!

(laughs) I play all kinds of characters and try to look like them. I played an abuse spewing prostitute in Traffic Signal, now who would have thought that I would look or sound like that? Anurag's (Basu, the director) treatment of my character is such, that well, I do look 30+, and quite nerdish at times!

How was it like working with Irrfan Khan and Sharman Joshi?

Irrfan Khan is definitely a pleasure. Working with him was quite effortless. With Sharman too, it was all good fun. In fact, every actor in Metro is a performer.

That they all are -- more actors then stars.

But that's just the kind of film it is! It required lots of able performers. The rest works out fine with Anurag Basu's direction. The script is solid too.

In all your forthcoming films like Laga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachley, you worked with a lot of actors. What about solo films?

Look, it's way too early to talk about either of these two films. All I can say is that both the films require a lot of actors, and my roles are integral to the script. As for solo films, I am doing my small Bengali films. I get a lot of offers, yes, but I won't just shoot for a film just because I want to be a single heroine.

The Life In A Metro Contest

Speaking of Bengali films, Dosar will be screened at Cannes.

I am very proud of my small little cute Bengali films. Dosar is really special because very few people know about it. But unfortunately, I won't be there to watch the screening.

Are there loads of other films too?

Yes, I am thrilled about Rituporno Ghosh's Hindi film Sunglass -- it is my first comedy. Then there's Laga Chunari Mein Daag  and Chai Paani etc. (Pauses) Don't bring on the cigarette smoking issue with the censors please!

Ok, we won't. But finally one last question. Does all the gossip about you and Ranvir Sheorey (her rumoured boyfriend) bother you?

No it doesn't, really. Initially I did find it bothersome, but my mother taught me that it's part of my job. So now, I am indifferent to it.
