Govinda and Salman Khan are the latest victims of the promotion bugs unleashed these days by film producers in the name of getting eyeballs and innovation. After having seen Amitabh Bachchan interviewed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra for Eklavya - The Royal Guard, and Bachchan yet again in an interview format with Tabu for Cheeni Kum, now we have Govinda and Salman Khan quizzing each other for their forthcoming film Partner.
In this 13-minute interview, the actors form their own mutual admiration society. Govinda tries to introduce Salman in his own way while Salman claims that he should not stress so hard as the whole country knows who Govinda is. Salman also reveals that he was afraid of Govinda's histrionics and that's why he avoided working with him for a good 17 years.
On being asked by Salman who his favourite Khan is, Govinda teases him by mentioning names like Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar), Mehboob Khan and Kadar Khan, before mentioning Salman's name.
The mutual admiration of each other reaches a crescendo when Govinda mentions that no one is as beautiful than Salman. Salman, not to be outdone, compares himself to a normal boxer and Govinda to Mohammad Ali.
David Dhawan also features in the conversation and Salman mentions that it's his impatience that's a plus point for him but at the same time rebukes him for giving him flops. Govinda, at this stage, mentions that out of 16 films with David, 'only' 14 were hits.
The conversations ends with Govinda asking Salman what the whole world had wanted to ask but was afraid to -- about Salman's wedding plans. After much grinning, Salman finally tells that the news floating around his wedding is false. He adds that he would first tell his fans about his wedding details, rather than his friends, to get more good wishes.
