Did you at any point expect this kind of success?
I used to tell Ganesh and Krishna that we would eventually taste success. But the success of the film really surprised me. I would be happy with a 100-day run but now people are talking of a silver jubilee run in Bangalore, Mysore and God knows in how many other places!
There are people who still argue that the climax could have been better and that build-up to the climax was little amateurish?
I can assure you that if the film's climax was anything different, the film would have flopped on day one itself. If Ganesh had expressed his love in the first scene then, I would have been kicked out of the industry by this time.
How much did Ganesh's performance help the film's success?
Ganesh's performance was a major contribution to the success of the film. He fully trusted me and gave a wonderful performance. I used his lively dialogue delivery to the full advantage. I am happy the younger stars in the Kannada film industry are prepared to listen to the director.
What are your future projects?
I am doing a film for Krishnappa, my godfather and another for producer Rockline Venkatesh.
